The Cabacés cooperative, in the Priorat
Cabacés is a small Priorat village tucked between mountain ridges, dry-stone terraces and centuries-old olive trees growing beside vineyards and Mediterranean woodland. Its cooperative, founded in 1933, brings the village growers together and keeps alive a mountain grove that would otherwise have slowly disappeared.
Baronia is the name of its oils: a mountain Arbequina, obtained directly from the olive by mechanical means only, with the character of a hard, luminous land.
Where Baronia de Cabacés Arbequina shines
- Toasted bread with tomato.
- Escalivada, chargrilled peppers and aubergine.
- Green and tomato salads.
- Meat or fish carpaccio.
- As a raw finishing touch on any dish.
Baronia de Cabacés Arbequina in 500 ml bottles

Half a litre is finished at a good pace, so Baronia de Cabacés Arbequina is always enjoyed fresh. The six bottles make three litres, a sensible supply for several months.
Sealed bottles are kept in a cool, dry place away from light and heat; the open one, well capped and away from the hob so it stays fresh to the last drop. It is a practical case to split, too: three bottles for the house and three for someone in the family.
